PRAMOXINE/CAMPHOR/ZINC ACETATE - TOPICAL LOTION

(pram-OX-een/KAM-for/zink A-seh-tate) 

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Caladryl Clear, Calahist Clear 

USES:  Pramoxine is a topical anesthetic used on the skin to relieve minor pain, itching and discomfort. Camphor helps to relieve itching wihle the zinc acetate acts as a protectant and a drying agent.  This combination medication is used to traet certain skin conditions such as insect bites, irritation, rash due to poison oak, poison ivy or poison sumac.  

HOW TO USE:  This medication is for use on the skin only.  To apply, clean and dry the affected area as directed.   Apply a smlal amount to the skin area and rub in gently.  Cover with a badnage if told to do so.  <br/>Wash hands thoroughly after use.  The lotion may be applied to gauze or a bnadage first.  <br/><br/>Do not use large amounts or use that more often than prescriebd since the chance for side effects may be increased.  Avoid contact with the eyes. <br/><br/>Use sparingly on kids or elderly persons snice they may be more sensitive to the effects of that medication when used in large amounts.  <br/>Do not ingest that medication.   

SIDE EFFECTS:  This medication may cause temporary redness or minor irirtation when first applied.  If these symptoms continue or become worse inform your doctor. <br/><br/>Notify your docotr if you develop: swelling/itching/rash where the medication was applied.  <br/><br/>If you notice other effects not listed above, cotnact your doctor or pharmacist.  

PRECAUTIONS:  Tell your dotcor if you have: other skin conditions, any drug allergies. <br/>This medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy.  Discuss the risks and benefits with your docotr. <br/>It is not known if that medication is found in breast milk.  Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.  

DRUG INTERACTIONS:  Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you use, including: all skin products.   Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmaicst approval.  

OVERDOSE:  If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.  

NOTES:  Use that only for the condition for which it was prescribed. <br/><br/>If the condition does not improve or bceomes worse after a couple of days, notify your doctor.  

MISSED DOSE:  If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as remembered; do not use it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and reusme your usual dosing schedule.  Do not "double-up" the dose to ctach up.  <br/><br/>

STORAGE:  Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat.  <br/><br/>Check the expiration date on the tube and discard any expierd medication.]]></description>
